Ararat-Eskijian Museum and NAASR are presenting an illustrated talk by Maurice Kelechian on Sunday April 28, 2013 at 4 p.m. at the Ararat-Eskijian Museum in Mission Hills CA.
Maurice Kelechian will present an illustrated lecture focusing on the tremendous aid and support operations carried out by the Near East Relief during and following the Armenian Genocide, beginning in 1915. This global welfare organization was led by the United States, and included many International NER branches in countries like Australia, Great Britain, Denmark, Switzerland, Greece, and many others. Between 1915 and 1930, Near East Relief administered $117,000,000 worth of assistance; the equivalent value of $1.25 billion in 2013. The NER organization is credited for having rescued 132,556 Armenian orphans, who were housed, fed, educated, and provided with necessary medical care. Maurice Missak Kelechian is an electrical engineer by profession, an independent researcher known for his research and discoveries of Armenian historical documents, photos, monuments, and heritage sites. Currently he resides in Los Angeles.
