Ammar runs a farm outside of the West Bank village of Asira with his family. He joined with NEF and USAID’s Olive Oil Without Borders project because he was interested in making the most out of his twenty donums of olive trees. He trained how to clip his trees, use compost, and to water them in the most effective, sustainable ways in a region which is severely short of this valuable resource.
This year’s olive harvest in Israel and The West Bank was not as good for Ammar and many farmers like him, but with new tools and the latest techniques, some Olive Oil Without Borders partners are able to produce more olives in a single donum than other farms’ entire harvests.
