“I can comfortably provide for my family rather than wait for food distribution. The seeds and tools I bought from has helped me do proper weeding and maintenance. I’m thankful.”
Atong
After being displaced, Atong returned with her family to their village, Heh Hec, in Malual Baai Payam. For a year, she struggled to make ends meet and feed her children.
Through NEF’s programs, Atong was selected to receive a cash voucher, which allowed her to purchase seeds and farming tools of her choice at the Input Trade Fair. The tools proved invaluable, helping her manage her fields more efficiently. The groundnuts she grew became a vital source of nutrition for her family, and she was able to sell any surplus at local markets to supplement her income.
Today, Atong feels empowered to lead a dignified life and is proud to provide for her family. Her success has inspired other women in her village to pursue small-scale farming and build their own livelihoods.
