A farmer from the West Bank city of Nablus, Hamzeh and his family have been working the same field for generations. As a partner in USAID and NEF’s Olive Oil Without Borders project, Hamzeh received a number of olive tree seedlings from nurseries in Israel. These trees, cultivated by hereditary farmers like Hamzeh who have an intimate knowledge of growing crops in the region, are bred naturally. These olive varieties grow and fruit faster and more often. This gives all Olive Oil Without Borders beneficiaries and partners in Israel and the West Bank a much needed boost in olive production, fostering goodwill and continued economic and agricultural cooperation.
