To honor the life and legacy of Arman J. Kuyumjian, our friend and former pro bono legal counsel who passed away in October 2025, NEF is establishing a fund in his memory. 

As the grandchild of an orphan who was supported by Near East Relief in response to the Armenian Genocide, Arman was deeply passionate about NEF’s mission and was particularly dedicated to helping vulnerable Armenian children. All donations received through this fund will support NEF’s programming in Armenia.

Funds are allocated based on a transparent assessment process that prioritizes urgent needs that lead to sustainable recovery. NEF’s innovative approach uses knowledge gained through past responses and our active involvement in the impacted communities. This includes: 

• Supporting our network of local partners, who are ready to mobilize, rapidly deliver a tailored response, and quickly adapt to complex, highly dynamic crises. 

• Reaching the most vulnerable, especially those facing multiple vulnerabilities, such as displaced people with disabilities and marginalized populations living in remote areas. 

• Ensuring people can meet their basic needs effectively and sustainably by providing individualized support at scale. 

• Utilizing and leveraging market-based approaches that foster self-reliance, dignity and safe livelihoods rather than short-term charity.
