Rebuilding Lives: A Year of Support for Displaced Nagorno-Karabakh Residents in Armenia

Date: November 12, 2024

It has been over a year since nearly the entire population of Nagorno-Karabakh fled their homes and sought safety in Armenia, fearing persecution and further violence. In response, we directed donations into our Challenge Fund for Emergency Response, which has supported Armenian nonprofit organizations in providing immediate assistance to affected communities.

Through this fund, ten of our trusted community partner organizations in Armenia are leading key initiatives to help individuals and families affected by the displacement crisis that began in September 2023.

So far, the projects have provided over 238 displaced individuals with essential support. Some of the assistance provided includes:

  • Vocational training and resources to start or rebuild their livelihoods
  • Essential household items such as beds, heaters and appliances
  • Assistive devices for displaced people with disabilities

Thanks to our generous donors, we are excited to launch new projects that address the ongoing challenges of displacement, including:

  • Developing a media literacy toolkit to help prevent the spread of misinformation
  • Offering leadership skills training for displaced
  • Supporting local organizations in boosting volunteer involvement
